Tafika’s rooms are hand built using local materials, the beds are made of mapeti and mopane wood and the chalets themselves are constructed from golden reed and thatch. All 6 rooms have en-suite bathrooms, open-air showers and covered verandas. One chalet has two bedrooms, ideal for a family and the honeymoon chalet has a double shower and private hammock.

The relaxed and friendly, family atmosphere is down to the creators, John and Carol Coppinger, who live here with their two children, Christine and Jenny. The emphasis at the remote Tafika is on personalised attention, comfort, flexibility and excellent cuisine.

The main attraction is the abundance of safari options, both in the dry season (May to Nov) and the green season (Feb to April). Game viewing can be on foot, bicycle, open vehicle or microlite, and in the green season river safaris offer breathtaking views of the birdlife and the Luangwa River at full flood by boats or canoes. The team of guides, led by Bryan Jackson are exceptional bushmen and their dedication and expertise ensures that guests enjoy a relaxed, fun and game-filled day.

Guests can also enjoy visits to the local village where most of the camp staff are from and Mkasanga School, both of which are aided by the camp fund that pays for additional teachers and medical supplies.

Due to the diversity of game viewing, from river safaris to microlites, the rustic luxury of the accommodation and it’s family run, relaxed approach, Tafika is without doubt one of the most unique and exquisite camps in this region.
