Tafika Camp– Our ViewWhat a truly exceptional camp! Tafika is one of the remaining owner run camps in Africa with John and Carol ever present. The result is a camp that genuinely cares for each and every one of its guests. The quality of guiding here is some of the best in Africa with Brian Jackson, Isaac Zulu and Stephen Banda offering a level that is hard to beat anywhere; they have been guiding in the Luangwa for years. Couple these facts with the setting and the excellent game viewing on offer and you have one of the best camps in Africa. We absolutely love it.

More about Tafika CampLocated on a grassy peninsula above the meandering Luangwa River, Tafika Camp acts as the main base camp for the Chikoko Trails walking camps, as well being a fabulous camp in its own right. In the game-rich South Luangwa National Park, its six spacious chalets, accommodating twelve guests, are in a wonderful location beneath a grove of giant Leadwoods and, Sausage trees and Musikisi (Natal Mahogany) trees. Accommodation is in large, reed and thatch chalets with natural linen, reed shelving and 24 hour electricity. En-suite bathrooms are open to the skies and boast fabulous showers and flush toilets. While away hours relaxing on the river bank hammocks, photographing thirsty game from the waterhole hide. Or venture further afield on exceptional game drives, walks or cycling safaris in this less visited section of South Luangwa. Following significant long-term investment and assistance with the development of the local community and village facilities, guests can also visit neighbouring Mkasanga Village, home to most of Tafika’s staff. This well-organised trip offers an excellent insight into the culture and lifestyle of the local people. Tafika Camp operates in the dry season: from May to the mid November.
