Kutandala – Our ViewThe North Luangwa is regarded by many as the best safari park in Africa; you are guaranteed not to see another person whilst staying here and the game is as natural as it can possibly be. Walking is what this park is all about and Kutandala, for safari enthusiasts, is simply as good as it gets! However Mwaleshi (the other camp up here) is damn good too. We sit on the fence over which camp is better. But we can say that Kutandala is an exceptional lodge, in an exceptional park. What a place.

More about Kutandala Bush CampKutandala is set on a stunning site on the banks of the Mwaleshi River in the heart of the North Luangwa National Park; Kutandala Camp offers the ultimate safari for those who seek true wilderness. The park is very remote and wild - a place for real bush lovers to visit. The camp owners / hosts, Rod and Guz have worked in the park for the last 4 years and so know and love it well. Rod started guiding in the Luangwa Valley in 1989 and Guz is a trained Ballymaloe chef producing faultless cuisine despite the nearest shops being a 7 hour drive. This camp especially caters for clients who are keen walkers but excursions further a field, such as the scenic Chipopma falls, which involves driving are not a problem as there is a game-viewing vehicle. The chalets are made of reed, grass and poles - its rustic, simple but SO beautiful and with a capacity of taking only 6 guests the camp is intimate and natural - exclusivity is guaranteed and you can walk for days without seeing another soul. The guest rooms all have an unrestricted view of the Mwaleshi river and its floodplain - each have an en-suite flush toilet and hot shower and are built entirely of reed and grass. Lighting is by rechargeable solar lanterns and paraffin hurricane lamps.
