  • Kapamba – Our View

With concrete being a major part of this lodge we find the rooms somewhat uninviting and certainly somewhat un-eco! The location is stunning and the guiding as ever is great. But we just cannot get over the fact that this little camp has lost its bushcamp charm. Sorry, but when you consider what else is on offer from this company (and its competition), we are not fans!

    More about Kapamba

Kapamba Camp is situated in an untouched corner of the South Luangwa National Park, enjoying a great position on the shallow Kapamba River. The four, en-suite chalets are spacious, stylish and wholly original in design. Their moulded concrete interiors are simple and cool, and boast baths the size of plunge pools! Entirely open-fronted in design, guests can enjoy views from their beds, twin showers or wide veranda, whilst clever concertina shutters will allow the nervous a peaceful sleep.

Kapamba is located on the banks of the River Kapamba and is undoubtedly one of the most remote camps in the South Luangwa National Park. This river is a tributary of and just four miles from the River Luangwa. Guests are transferred a short distance by road from Mfuwe airport.

The focal point of the camp is the half moon deck that is the dining area, which commands a magnificent view of animals that come down to the river to drink during the day. The fully stocked bar, solar panel lighting and hot and cold water ensures that guests are well looked after.

Each guest room is designed specifically to blend in with the surroundings and the open fronted chalets with sunken baths face the river below. Comfort and simplicity has been combined to form the rustic charm of the camp.
