Run by Remote Africa as part of the infamous Chikoko Walking Trails, Chikoko is a camp that truly fits into its surroundings; this is a stunning little bush camp. From the moment you see Chikoko there is an undeniable charm about the camp and staying there gives you that sense of adventure that only bushcamps can provide. The quality of guiding and walking on offer here is hard to describe – it is truly exceptional. Our favourite bush camp in the South Luangwa National Park….by quite a long way!

    More about Chikoko Tree Camp

Chikoko Tree Camp is part of the infamous Chikoko Trails walking operation run by Remote Africa Safaris. Remote are known for offering an unsurpassed walking experience in the Luangwa Valley and so expect a no frills, authentic approach to walking safari that will compete with the best walking camps in Africa.

Located only a few hundred metres from the Perekani crossing point where Livingstone proclaimed his love for the Luangwa, Chikoko has one of the best walking area in the entire Luangwa Valley.

Staying at Chikoko, clients will explore the wilderness areas, entirely on foot; vehicles are not permitted in the area. The landscapes here are beautiful and the diverse game increasingly relaxed to those passing on foot.

The camp itself has 3 double chalets made of local mopane wood, all of which are raised on stilts 3 metres above the camp floor. The rooms are open fronted, each overlooking an open flood plain that can literally teem with game (which in our experience has a habit of constantly walking straight through camp!). Underneath each room is an open air bathroom and flush toilet.

The main area has an open plan small bar and lounge area, leading on to the breakfast and dinner area which has the best views from camp. The camp is minimalistic, but as with all the Remote Camps, the reason clients come here is for the simple, no fills approach to safari without the crowds.
