The River Club – Our View

The River Club is in our view the finest property at Victoria Falls. Quite an honour considering the quality of the competition! What really sets this place apart from all its competitors is not so much the quality of the rooms but the character and atmosphere in camp. The views are absolutely stunning (the best by far!), the grounds are immaculate, giving guests areas to escape everyone else. However what really sets this lodge apart is the fantastic hosting by the owner Peter Jones – dinner is always entertaining and you really do feel part of the home.

Tongabezi – Our View

Built years ago in a design that was totally unique across Africa, Tongabezi is an old favourite due to its longstanding fresh approach to lodge design. They then continued to give our clients unbelievable stays - we even had a phrase in the office which described clients best trips as ‘Tongabezi moments’! Today, Tongabezi does seem a little dated however the lodge certainly has a couple of the best rooms in the entire area and for that reason we still rate it as one of the best lodges at Victoria Falls. It is a very tough choice as to whether Tongabezi or the River Club is the best hotel in the area and ultimately the decision is based on which rooms you get at Tongabezi. If you can get the Nut House, Honeymoon or Tree then Tonga then this place is superb. If not then we suggest the River Club.

Sindabezi - Our View

Sindabezi is a 3 roomed private island lodge in the centre of the Zambezi River. Owned by Ben Parker, the owner of Tongabezi, this is an old favorite in the office and a great lodge for the client wanting something different. Having seen Sindabezi become somewhat run down over the last few years, the recent refurbishment has been welcomed in the office here - it has truly transformed the camp.

The Royal Livingstone - Our View

Overall the Royal Livingstone is a remarkably nice but large hotel with great food, great pool and good service. The location is the closest location to the Falls and with Zebra literally walking around the swimming pool there is something truly special about this hotel. In a nutshell we would love to hate it as it is so big but actually, we love it! Just be careful on how much you eat and drink here…extras are priced exceptionally high!

Toka Leya – Our View

Wilderness Safaris new property at the Falls is one of the best value properties in the whole area. Cheaper by over one hundred dollars a night than the nearby Wilderness Safaris owned River Club, we believe Toka Leya is an utter bargain. Great for families and due to the all inclusive price, certainly a more economical option than the Royal Livingstone. Overall, this newcomer is a great new addition….but for the romantic break, we would still choose the River Club.

Sussi and Chuma – Our View

On the outset Sussi and Chuma should be a very good lodge however the reality in this area is that the competition is set very high and where as this lodge is a great little camp, its competition in the area, especially Tongabezi and The River Club are superior products. Having said that, Sussi and Chuma does work well when booked on a Sanctuarey lodges circuit in either Zambia or Botswana where the overall price becomes great value for money.
